A Living Lab is being created in both Leipzig and Dresden, which approaches our main research topics of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Data Science in a diverse and vibrant way. With the this experiment space, a user-centered ecosystem is being created that is designed to share current and topical research approaches and results of our center with visitors.
The Living Lab appears as a multi-faceted venue, exhibition space, teaching and education center, and laboratory. It is a vehicle for communication, discovery, development, and evaluation of our research for the public. Practical and everyday problems as well as questions in dealing with new digital technologies shall be in the focus as well as finding innovative approaches for business and industry. New methods and research results need to be communicated with and evaluated by our visitors from different target groups, so that diverse opinions can be immediately included in our research and innovation process.
Through independent and guided engagement with our demonstrators in the exhibition space, our center’s research on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science is made vivid, tangible, and therefore understandable by different target groups.
asanAI allows you to create simple machine learning models from custom data, without any code or dependencies, fully in the browser, even on your own GPU. It allows you to see all kinds of visualizations of the network and the data as well as the data flow. In addition, you can customize every aspect of your network.
Due to greenhouse gas emissions and global warming effects, the world's climate is changing dramatically and it is a responsibility of administrative and politicians to take actions to mitigate the climate change and adapt to its outcomes like more frequent and intense floods. But these actions require comprehensive research and proper understanding of the results. Therefore, FloodVis offers an easy visualization of possible future flood scenarios in Virtual Reality.
CBIR basically works for historical images and is a strong support for researchers. It is available as end-to-end pipeline for practitioners on HPC machine and as browser based web application for demonstration purposes.

This Demo showcases the research of the Earth and Environmental Sciences Group of ScaDS.AI regarding their research projects on glaciers. With the aim of getting a better understanding of processes in the cryosphere, which is the ice-covered part of the Earth, environmental seismological measurements were carried out on Glacier d'Argentière (French Alps). Geophones were used to record the glacier's seismicity, which further allows to analyze and visualize inherent processes on top, within and beneath the ice body (meltwater runoff, glacier movements (stick-slip), crevasse dynamics etc.). We use data science and machine learning methods as those are especially suited to uncover signals of interest within this noisy environment and to even make predictions about the future behavior of the glacier based on the determination and classification of so-called fingerprints, i.e. reproducible processes in the measurement data as these mentioned above.
